Hi, I’m Kate…
I began my career as an administrator for a large charity, moving into an Office Manager role and then worked as a PA for a Head of HR in the City. In 2000 I made the move to teaching and took a primary PGCE; I worked mainly in Early Years and really enjoyed the challenge and variety of working with young children. I am now a Professional Declutterer and Organiser and love being self-employed. I still love teaching and working with families so I also work as a home tutor and volunteer with Homestart, a charity working with young families in my local area.
I was lucky enough to live in several different countries as a child and I am sure that this is why I am such a people person. Moving schools, experiencing different cultures and having to make new friends means that I really enjoy meeting new people and also helps me to put people at ease. My parents moved house over 40 times before they retired so I know that I definitely have a good organisational background! Over the last 8 years, I have been involved in my partner’s home improvement business and we are currently working on a significant property development.
My Dad lives in Cheshire, I have a brother living in London and another living in France. Five years ago we lost our Mum very suddenly but we were lucky enough to be able to help each other through this sad time; we all worked together to plan her funeral service and the party afterwards. I found this very comforting and it really helped having family to lean on. We were taken aback by the amount of paperwork we had to deal with and I would really like to be able to use my own experience to help people through this difficult time.
My day usually starts with long walk with our dog Wilko and I am a regular Parkrunner too. I really enjoy spending time with friends and family at home or weekends away – some of my favourite weekends have been in holiday cottages with friends, cooking together and catching up.
